Morning Thought
This week I am doing Morning Thought on BBC Wiltshire and Swindon, it was suggestsed that I blog them for those who aren’t around between 0620 and 0630hrs. So here’s today’s
Good Morning,
So did the weekend go well? Did you cook/book the right meal? Were the flowers or any other gift OK? Did you get the card? Did you remember?
Or were you thinking of times gone by when you were together and aren’t now for whatever reason?
Valentine’s Day is a difficult time to navigate for all sorts of reasons. Well never mind it’s over until next year so you can relax – but wait a minute tomorrow’s Shrove Tuesday, then Ash Wednesday then Lent when the church is in doom and gloom and there’s pressure to give up something for 40 days – oh my!
This week I thought that I would share my views on Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and Lent and maybe lift some of that doom and gloom. Yes the Anglican Church does tend to remove lots of things from the church buildings e.g. flowers, the colour for vestments is purple and some of the hymn tunes seem to be in the minor key. Preachers tend to ponder the way of the world, sin and how we don’t always get it right. This means that the overall impression is one of sombreness but, like Valentine’s Day, Lent is also a time to reflect on love and, in its own way, celebrate a wonderful love. More of that anon.
So until tomorrow I hope that you can find some time to have a rest from the stresses and strains of life.
